I’m currently working on the preparations for a new analog photo shoot. The series’ title will be SEVENFOLD: the life of a woman. I’m reading Goddesses in Everywoman : Powerful Archetypes in Women's Lives by Jean Shinoda Bolen.
In Greek mythology you can find seven goddesses who represent more or less all women. I want to portray these seven archetypes in a strong way - penetrating portraits with beautiful head pieces in which the symbolism of the goddesses are represented. Moreover, the number seven is a sacred, mystical and magical number. It symbolizes the cosmic and spiritual order and the completion of a natural cycle.
With this series I want to represent all women, while this is also a search for the 'goddess' in myself. In myths about the Greek goddesses, every goddess has different qualities and values. As a whole, they form the entire panorama of human attributes.
In history there has never been a better time for Western women to live her own individual potential. To live a meaningful life we strive for what is important to us: love for what we do and who we love. I want to show the appreciation for the world in which we now live and the beautiful side of women. I prefer to express that with my passion: photography. Because art can make the world a little better.
